Rapper Young Thug wants to help African men, women, and children leave Ukraine after seeing several videos of them trapped at the Poland border.
“If some of my rap brothers are in, I’m willing to help Africans get out of Ukraine,” he wrote on his Instagram Story. “However, I can sense they not letting us pass.”
In a follow-up post, he said, “Whoever holds the info for these movements, please contact me ASAP. I’m ready.”
Among the many videos, Thugger posted was one of a pregnant African woman with her infant stranded at the border in reportedly freezing temperatures.
Following Thug‘s call for action, several celebrities stepped up to help. “I’m with you, my brother,” entrepreneur Kelvin “PJ Kev” Mensa posted on his Story. “Anything I can do. Reach out ASAP.”

“We’ve been chased back. We’ve been hit with police armed with sticks,” a Nigerian man told BBC. He added that border patrol told him they were “not tending to Africans.”
According to Clayson Monyela, a South African foreign office official, Africans are being “badly treated“ at the border, President have been several reports that Ukrainian security is preventing them from boarding buses and trains.
Muhammadu Buhari, President of Nigeria, says there are currently 4,000 Nigerians in Ukraine. Many of them are students at Ukraine’s medical and technical universities.
The President tweeted, “All who flee a conflict situation have the same right to safe passage under the UN Convention and the colour of their passport or their skin should make no difference.”
