After years of speculation since the 2007 sex tape was released, Ray J is trying to clear his name. He claims that Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian were a part of it, and he has never “leaked anything.”
The Love and Hip Hop star said, “I’ve sat in the shadows for over 14 years allowing the Kardashians to use my name, to abuse my name, make billions of dollars over a decade-and-a-half talking about a topic I’ve never really spoken about.”
Once The Kardashians episode premiered and showed Kim Kardashian crying over Kanye West’s brave attempt to get the tape back from Ray J, he claimed it was all for the show. Ray J, whose real name is Ray Norwood, claims that Kardashian’s tears were “crocodile tears.”
DailyMail covered Ray J’s interview. He continues, “I’ve never leaked anything. I have never leaked a sex tape in my life. It has never been a leak. It’s always been a deal and a partnership between Kris Jenner and Kim and me, and we’ve always been partners since the beginning of this thing.”
The former couple was together in 2002 and made the tape to celebrate her 21st birthday in Cabo, Mexico. The infamous video was a huge topic on the premiere of Keeping Up with The Kardashians. The tape wasn’t released until 2007. Their relationship was on the rocks and coming to a soon end.
According to DailyMail, Ray J says it was his idea to release the sex tape, and the 41-year-old beauty mogul went along with it. She actually insisted on help from her momager, Kris Jenner. The idea came from the former couple watching her former bestie and employer, Paris Hilton, boost to fame after her tape was released.
Ray J claims he had little to do with the tape’s release through Vivid Entertainment.
Apparently, there was an initial contract. The contract was signed by Ray J and Kim at the time. The tape was supposed to have three videos, two of which were sex tapes. However, the one tape made it to the screen, the one in Cabo.
Ray J says the couple was celebrating Kim’s 21st, and it was something extra they were doing in the bedroom. He also claims he never possessed any tapes. She had all of them and kept them in a Nike shoebox under her bed.
“She kept them all – she had to go find that tape [Sex Tape Cabo #1] and then present it. I never had a tape in my possession in our whole relationship. I never had a single one at my house – she had them at her house. She’s always had all the tapes in a Nike shoebox under her bed.”
“I’m sure she has bigger beds now and better boxes. That’s how it all came about. Once I pitched the idea to her, just playing around a little bit, that’s when she jumped on the idea, talked to her mom and it was out of my hands from there.”
Ray J regrets ever bringing it up now since he was accused of leaking it and had a lousy reputation in Hollywood. However, he couldn’t say anything due to his contract.
Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian have yet to comment on Ray J’s forthcoming.
