Ray J is speaking publicly for the first time about the ongoing rumors surrounding his relationship with Whitney Houston and his alleged connection to her death.
During his appearance on Cam Newton’s “Funky Friday,” Ray J addressed the false claims that have followed him for more than a decade. He explained that every time he goes live on Instagram, people flood the comments with accusations.
“If you look on all my comments, every time I go live, ‘You killed Whitney.’ That happens in spam,” he said.
Ray J made it clear that he was not even in the same city at the time of Whitney’s passing. He said he was in San Diego preparing for a performance, while Whitney was in Los Angeles. The two had planned to attend Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party together that night and were going to confirm their relationship publicly.
“That was my people,” he said. “To me, she wasn’t just Whitney Houston. She was Whitney.”
He also described what happened in the hours following her death on February 11, 2012. At first, he was not allowed upstairs at the Beverly Hilton. Later that evening, when family members were permitted access, he was able to go up. Ray J clarified that her bodyguard—whose name is also Ray—was the one who found her. He believes this may have caused confusion that fueled rumors about his involvement.
Addressing another long-standing rumor, Ray J denied ever supplying drugs to Whitney or any celebrity.
“I’ve never done one drug with Whitney,” he said. When Newton asked if he had seen Whitney use drugs, Ray J declined to elaborate.
“Whitney? I don’t want to talk about that. I’m way younger. She’s in control, she’s Whitney, she’s a boss. So, to make me the big dog—I’m not the big dog. I’m the little n*gga. I’m the little homie.”
He then reflected on how their relationship began and the positive moments they shared. He explained that he stayed silent for years out of respect for her memory, but as the rumors persisted, he felt he had no choice but to respond.
“This conversation was never supposed to happen,” he said.
Ray J expressed that he is still deeply affected by Whitney’s passing and the accusations that continue to follow him.
