Ray J has formally responded to Princess Love‘s latest divorce filing, this time seeking joint custody of their two young children, Melody, aged 5, and Epik, aged 4.
According to documents that PEOPLE magazine obtained, the musician wishes for both legal and physical custody arrangements that allow equal parenting time for both.
In addition to custody, the 43-year-old “Sexy Can I” singer is looking to have certain assets divided between them, including jewelry and personal items. Ray J also proposes that each party cover their own legal expenses and suggests the matter of spousal support be addressed later. This move comes after Princess Love, 39, initiated the divorce process in February, aiming to end their nearly eight-year marriage.
The couple has seen their fair share of ups and downs, with this being their fourth attempt to divorce since May 2020. Despite previous reconciliations, it appears they are now taking decisive steps towards separation.
Shortly after the divorce news broke, Love shared her thoughts on Instagram, expressing that the decision to part ways was made with deep consideration and a focus on what’s best for both. She highlighted their intention to proceed with mutual respect and a commitment to co-parent their children effectively.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of our decision to divorce,” she wrote. “After much reflection, discussion, and counseling, we have come to the difficult realization that our paths have diverged.”
“We want to reassure you that this decision was made thoughtfully and with mutual respect and consideration for each other’s well-being,” she continued,
Princess Love married the “One Wish” singer in August 2016 and first filed for divorce in May 2020 after accusing Ray J of leaving her and their daughter in Las Vegas—a claim he contested. Love later dismissed the case, only for Ray J to file for divorce himself a few months afterward.
