The son of NFL Hall of Famer Ray Lewis died of an accidental drug overdose, according to a Florida police report.

Ray Lewis III, 28, was found unresponsive by first responders, who were called to a call for a medical emergency on June 14 around 5:30 p.m., according to the report obtained by TMZ. Police say Lewis was naked, lying between a bed and a wall, and not breathing.

A friend of Lewis was performing CPR before officers administered Narcan, a drug used to counteract the effects of a drug overdose. First responders were unable to revive Lewis.

Officers searched the room and found a blue pill near Lewis’ body. The report identified the pill as alprazolam, a drug used to treat anxiety and panic disorders. A used needle, a small plastic bag, and an empty beer can were also recovered from the scene.

News of Lewis’ death was first shared in a social media post by his younger brother Rahsaan on Thursday.

“Really can’t believe I’m even typing this but RIP big brother,” he wrote. “A true angel. I pray your at peace now because I know how much you was really hurting.”

Tributes poured in from other family members, including his sister Diaymon.

“Brownie, I love [you] with all of my heart,” she wrote. “You will always be my first love and truly are the definition of a quintessential brother.”

She added, “To the most genuine and talented person I know, go get your rest baby and I’m glad you’re at peace. Fly high baby.”

Lewis took after his Hall of Fame father and played football in high school and college. He began his career as a running back for the Lake Mary Prep school in Florida. He had 20 touchdowns and 1,898 yards during his senior year.

Lewis continued playing in college at his father’s alma mater, the University of Miami. He then transferred to Coastal Carolina and eventually Virginia Union University. He signed with the Wyoming Mustangs in October 2021 and played cornerback and safety for the indoor football team.
