Earlier this week in North Carolina, police discovered a real gun disguised as a nerf gun during a drug raid.
According to CNN, the gun–a Glock 19 pistol and a 50-round drum magazine–was apparently painted blue and orange, like an actual Nerf gun, and labeled with the Nerf logo.
“Such painted guns are not illegal, but the sheriff’s office called the not-Nerf weapon ‘concerning to law enforcement,'” Daily News wrote.
Twenty other firearms were found, in addition to the disguised gun. Cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms, and marijuana were also discovered; police took $2,300 in cash.
“Firearms, in general, are commonly seized in conjunction with searches where felony amounts of narcotics are present.”
Damien Burch, 35, was arrested and charged with felonious possession of cocaine, felonious mushrooms, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
His motive to turn a real gun into a toy is very unclear.
On Wednesday, Burch was released on a $20,000.
No one has been able to comment on Burch’s behalf thus far.
