Reggie Warren Of Iconic R&B Group TROOP Dead At 52

Reggie Warren of the iconic R&B group TROOP passed away on Sunday.

Warren, 52, passed away at his California home surrounded by family, a rep for the group told TMZ. The outlet reports that he was experiencing health issues and had been hospitalized for a couple of months in January. His family is not revealing his cause of death — though they said it was not COVID-related — until an autopsy is completed.

TROOP, which stands for Total Respect of Other People, was comprised of Warren and childhood friends Steve Russell, Allen McNeil, John Harreld, and Rodney Benford. The group signed to Atlantic Records in 1988 and released their hit “Mamacita.”

Their second album, Attitude, achieved gold status and spawned two number one hits in “All I Do Is Think of You” and “Spread My Wings.”

TROOP also appeared in New Jack City as the group singing a cover of “Living For the City.” The classic 1991 film stars Wesley Snipes, Ice-T, and Chris Rock.
