Regina King is partnering with Wells Fargo to promote financial health.
Wells Fargo has tapped actress, producer, and director Regina King as the face of a new credit card ad, but the company is also working with King to help promote financial wellness amongst underserved and Black and Brown communities. “I was drawn to Wells Fargo given the bank’s continued commitment to underserved communities,” King told Essence in an interview.
One of the ways Wells Fargo has been helping to create more equitable pathways for Black and Brown commutes within the banking industry is by donating $1 million to encourage more Black people to join Kollab, a new program in Los Angeles that highlights career opportunities for underserved children in the city.
“I was born and bred in LA, so Wells Fargo’s investment into Kollab’s work is something that resonated very deeply with me,” King said to the publication. “As a product of LA Unified School District, I’m aware of the lack of resources Black kids in the public school system don’t provide at an early age. Incredibly, I get to be a part of changing that.”
King says she supports Wells Fargo’s new Active Cashcard, mentioning that it will give users a cash reward on anything they purchase.
“When you hear about cashback for credit cards, it’s usually relating to something really specific,” said King in her conversation with Essence. “The great thing about Active Cash Card is you get a cash reward on everything you purchase. I hadn’t ever heard of a cash card working in that way. It’s something that can benefit everyone from my son’s age who is just now establishing his credit to someone like you and me.”
