Remy Ma believes the media had an influence in the Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez shooting verdict.
The Bronx rapper recently sat down with Hitman Holla for an interview with ‘The Jason Lee Show.’ During the conversation, Megan and Tory’s recent court case came up as a speaking topic. While Remy didn’t agree or disagree with the verdict, she did say the media influences most legal cases.
“I feel like when it come to public cases, the media convicts people and the media determines what a verdict is,” she said. “Coming from somebody who was on trial before, everything is never 100% on your side. Each side is gonna bend sh*t so that it goes to whatever caters to them. I just feel like lot of times, especially with celebrities, everybody go with who’s their favorite.”
Remy was then asked if she believed Tory shot Megan to which she replied, “I don’t know, I wasn’t there, I’m not in the space to talk about anybody getting shot. If she was black or white, I wasn’t there.”
Hitman also gave his opinion on the 2020 incident when Jason questioned if the hashtag ‘Protect Black Women’ was a real thing.
“I mean, the thing with that is, nobody knew the truth,” Hitman responded. “They don’t, but I’m saying that you can expect somebody to protect somebody. ‘Cause what if she was, like..? I’m just saying, I stay out of people’s business if I don’t know what’s going on. If I don’t know if it’s true or not, I stay out the way.”
Nevertheless, Tory was convicted of felony assault for shooting the Houston rapper in the foot. After a two week long trial full of conversational testimonies, a jury found Tory guilty on assault with a semi-automatic firearm (personal use of a firearm); carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle; and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
