US Rep. Thomas Massie is facing criticism after tweeting out a holiday-themed photo of him and his family holding guns in front of a Christmas tree, days after four teenagers were killed in a school shooting in Michigan.
Massie tweeted the photo along with the caption, “Merry Christmas!, ps. Santa, please bring ammo.”
The Republican representative’s tweet showed everyone smiling while holding various types of guns in the photo.
Parents of children who were killed by gun violence were quick to let Massie know his holiday message was poorly timed.
Fred Guttenberg, whose daughter was one of 17 victims killed in the Parkland shooting, retweeted Massie’s post saying,
“@RepThomasMassie, since we are sharing family photos, here are mine.”
Guttenberg shared photos of his late daughter and one of her gravesite. “One is the last photo that I ever took of Jaime, the other is where she is buried because of the Parkland school shooting,” he explained.
