Jamal Crawford was a fantastic addition to Turner Sports as a color commentator for several games last season. With the NBA media deal nearing its final year, reports have surfaced that Amazon and NBC are interested in working with him.
This morning, it was announced that Crawford is adding to his broadcasting resume by returning to one of his former teams, the New York Knicks.
As first reported by The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand, Crawford will serve as a backup game analyst for Knicks broadcasts, filling in for Walt “Clyde” Frazier, who is scaling back his travel schedule as he gets older. Currently, the three-time Sixth Man of the Year is set to call 10 games this season. Crawford had his longest stint in New York from 2004-2008, where he averaged a career-high 17.6 points per game along with four assists. He was traded to the Golden State Warriors before eventually landing with the Los Angeles Clippers’ “Lob City” era.
Known as one of the most dependable sixth men in the league during the early 2010s, Crawford is now stepping into a similar role for an NBA legend and a fan base that appreciates the passion he brought to the court.
His deep basketball knowledge has already shone through in his broadcasting work, where he’s known for breaking down the game in real time and simplifying every possession for fans.
A valuable addition, Crawford’s broadcasting career is one to watch as it continues to grow.
