The GMC Hummer EV is not just any ol’ truck, and this exclusive will likely take hopeful buyers years to get their hands on one.
Due to high demand, the truck is now sold out for at least two years. While that is to be expected, considering the hype around the EV, those who reserved the EV will also have to wait until 2024 to have their vehicle delivered to them.
As of March, GMC had already received 65,000 reservations. Last month, GMC brand chief Duncan Aldred said that number had soared to 90,000 for both the pickup and SUV versions of the high-functioning vehicle.
“We’re excited to say this incredible demand has led to Hummer EV reservations being fully booked at this time,” a rep told Robb Report, which covers the latest in luxury vehicles, homes, and fashion.
For now, the company is no longer taking orders since production is struggling to keep up with the demand. Only 2,570 units of the Hummer EV Pickup have been produced as of September 2022. Though the company is working hard to open its first Ultium Cells plant in Ohio to speed up the process, the plant will undergo upgrades in November, halting the truck’s production. The GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan, formerly known as the GM Detroit-Hamtramck plant, started producing the GMC Hummer EV Pickup late last year. The GMC Hummer EV starts at around $110,000.
