Restaurateur and Lifestyle Maven B.Smith Dies At The Age Of 70 After Battling Alzheimer’s

Author, restaurateur, lifestyle maven Barbara Elaine Smith, known to fashion lovers and fans as B.Smith, has passed away at the age of 70.

Early Sunday morning, Smith’s husband confirmed the news on social media that his wife had passed away peacefully at their home in Long Island, New York.

“It is with great sadness that my daughter Dana and I announce the passing of my wife, Barbara Elaine Smith.”

Dan continued, “Heaven is shining even brighter now that it is graced with B.’s dazzling and unforgettable smile.”

B. Smith announced that she was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease in 2014 at the age of 64 in an interview with CBS News.

“I’m going to do my best to make it work out for me, and for as many people that I can possibly help, too.”

B. Smith opened a chain of restaurants in New York and D.C., wrote three cookbooks: B. Smith Cooks Southern Style, B. Smith’s Entertaining and Cooking for Friends, B. Smith’s Rituals and Celebrations.
