Rev. Al Sharpton revealed he is on a strict diet and only eats one meal a day.
Page Six recently caught up with the reverend, and he shared some interesting things about his meal plan. The outlet spotted Sharpton celebrating his daughter, Dominique, at Sylvia’s soul food restaurant in Harlem.
“But, we went to Sylvia’s, and they ordered all the soul food they wanted, and I ate my kale salad,” he said.
Dominique was a recent contestant on the reality show “Claim To Fame,” where participants guess over celebrity family connections.
“[Watching her on TV] was surreal… they had no idea who she was. I never wanted my kids to be just Al Sharpton’s daughter. I wanted her to be on her own, and she’s doing that,” he said.
Sharpton and Dominique were attending a rally in Harlem when Rev. Jessie Jackson surprised them. He suggested they “take Dominique out” and headed to Sylvia’s. However, before pulling up, Sharpton called the restaurant to see if he could bring his salad which consists of “kale salad with boiled eggs, tomatoes, cucumbers.”
Sharpton said he made the call about his personal salad “cuz’ I know they don’t have kale there.”
The reverend said he began his strict diet of one meal a day “about four years ago.” He credits working out and eating kale for helping him maintain his lean figure.
“I eat around noon every day, and that’s it. I have the salad and at night, I just may have one slice of whole wheat toast because my doctor said I have to have some kind of protein,” he said.
