Karen Huger, star of “Real Housewives of Potomac,” has been charged with DUI following a recent car accident.
This Tuesday, Huger got involved in a collision in Potomac, Maryland. A Montgomery County Police Department spokesperson reported that Huger allegedly “crossed a median and hit street signs.” Officers noted that she seemed to be driving fast and aggressively right before the incident. Fortunately, Huger, who was alone in her car, escaped without injuries. The District Court for Montgomery County records show that police stopped her at 11:50 p.m. that Tuesday, and she faced DUI charges the next day.
Huger told TMZ that the crash happened as she was driving home from a dinner with a friend. They had been discussing emotionally charged topics, which Huger implies might have affected her driving.
“I was crying on my way home and saw a car coming straight at me,” Huger recounted. “To avoid a direct collision, I swerved, hitting a divider and then a tree. I’m a bit bruised but thankful to be alive!”
She continued, “Yes, I received citations, including one unrelated to the crash. But what shocked me was that the car I swerved to avoid just drove off!”
Since her mother’s death in 2017, Huger has openly discussed her struggle with grief. Reflecting on her experience, she emphasizes the importance of being mindful of one’s emotional state while driving.
“Driving in the right emotional state is crucial,” she advised. “Let this serve as a reminder for everyone to always wear their seatbelts. My seatbelt, alongside my mother’s guardian spirit, saved my life.”
