TMZ reports that Richard Sherman was released from jail following his arrest on Wednesday after trying to force his way into his father-in-law’s home.
Even though the judge in King County called the NFL star a “pillar in this community, he imposed several restrictions on Sherman’s release, including that he remain away from his father-in-law and not carry any firearms.
The judge also stated that he must also attend in person for all future court sessions.
Sherman, who did not appear in court and was instead represented by his counsel, scored a major victory, considering prosecutors had asked the judge to set Sherman’s bond at $10,000.
As part of his ruling, the judge said, “I see Mr. Sherman is a pillar in this community. He’s a business owner. He’s a husband. He’s a father,” he added, “I’m going to release Mr. Sherman on his own promise to return to court.”
Sherman could face various criminal charges, including resisting arrest and driving under the influence.
