Retired NFL cornerback Richard Sherman is speaking out after his Washington state home was robbed at gunpoint while his family was inside.
In a post shared Monday on X (formerly Twitter), Sherman revealed that the incident occurred Saturday—just one day before his birthday—and included time-stamped screenshots from his home surveillance system showing multiple intruders inside his residence.
“House being robbed at gun point with my family in it isn’t what anyone wants for a birthday gift,” the Super Bowl champion wrote. “Scary situation that my wife handled masterfully and kept my kids safe.”

Sherman, who played for the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers and now serves as an analyst for Amazon’s “Thursday Night Football,” urged anyone with information to come forward to help identify the suspects.
The King County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the incident is under active investigation, but no arrests have been made at this time.
The robbery adds to growing concerns over athlete-targeted crimes. It comes just weeks after the FBI issued warnings urging professional athletes to heighten home security following a series of high-profile break-ins. Recent incidents have involved the homes of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow.
In February, federal prosecutors announced charges against seven suspected members of a Chilean theft ring, accused of targeting athletes’ homes during games. Items reportedly stolen from Burrow’s home were later recovered in that investigation.
Sherman has not provided further comment but continues to ask the public for help. Anyone with tips is encouraged to contact the King County Sheriff’s Office.
