Following the December release of his Richer Than I Ever Been album, Rick Ross sat down with HotNewHipHop for an interview. During the interview, he compared the death of Nipsey Hussle and Young Dolph to that of 2Pac and Biggie.
“Losing Nipsey and Dolph for this generation, I’m sure, was just as equivalent or greater to what BIG or ‘Pac was for my generation,” the Miami rapper told the outlet.
Ross tried to sign Nipsey Hussle to his Maybach Music Group label early in the rapper’s career. While the deal didn’t work out, he said his conversations with Nipsey remained.Â
Nipsey Hussle was shot and killed outside of his Los Angeles-based Marathon Clothing store on March 31, 2019, while Dolph was fatally shot outside of Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies in Memphis on November 17, 2021.Â
The Notorious BIG and 2Pac were both fatally shot in the ’90s. On March 9, 1997, BIG was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles. Similarly, 2Pac was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas. The rapper succumbed to his injuries six days later, on September 13, 1996. No suspects have ever been arrested for either rappers’ murder.Â
