Netflix’s new series W.A.G.s to Riches is giving viewers an inside look at the lives of women who’ve been romantically involved with celebrities and athletes. In the first episode, Lastonia “Stoni” Leviston, the ex-girlfriend of rapper Rick Ross, opened up about a traumatic moment in her life—the infamous sex tape scandal from the early 2010s that left her emotionally devastated and questioning her self-worth.
Leviston, a fashion entrepreneur and mother, reflected on the ordeal, which involved her then-boyfriend Maurice Murray and rapper 50 Cent. During a heartfelt conversation with fellow cast member Alexis Welch Stoudemire, Leviston revealed the emotional toll the scandal took on her, describing it as one of the darkest chapters of her life.
Leviston explained that the video, recorded without her full consent, was sold by her ex-boyfriend to 50 Cent, who released it online as part of his ongoing feud with Rick Ross. The edited video, which featured 50 Cent narrating while wearing a wig, quickly went viral, exposing Leviston to public humiliation. She eventually filed a lawsuit against 50 Cent, and in 2015, a jury awarded her $5 million in damages.
“In that second, my whole life changed,” Leviston said tearfully. “I became suicidal. I didn’t want to live anymore. I felt like I was damaged goods. Like no man would ever love me again. I felt like I had let my kids down tremendously.”
Leviston revealed that her relationship with Rick Ross had already ended by the time the tape was leaked, but the scandal only added to the drama surrounding their past. She admitted she still struggles to fully move on, as she continues to live in a home owned by Ross. “It’s so difficult because I feel like I’m in a luxury prison, almost,” she shared.
She also reflected on how the situation came to be, explaining that her ex-boyfriend, Murray, would often record their intimate moments without asking. “He didn’t even really ask. He would just pull [the camera] out,” she said. “At the time, I felt happy. I was trying to show him how much love I had for him.”
But after their relationship soured, Murray sold the tape to 50 Cent, setting off a chain of events that still impacts her life today. “I was collateral damage in a feud I had nothing to do with,” she said, referring to the longstanding beef between Rick Ross and 50 Cent.
The scandal not only tarnished Leviston’s reputation but left her feeling ostracized and judged by others. “This friend group could be extremely judgey,” she said of the women on W.A.G.s to Riches.
The show, which premiered on Netflix on January 22, 2025, follows Leviston and eight other women as they redefine the stereotypical notion of “Wives and Girlfriends.” Alongside Leviston, the cast includes Sharelle Rosado, Maranda Johnson, Ashley Wheeler, and Porsha Berto, each sharing their own unique experiences and struggles in the spotlight.
