Rickey Smiley is firing back at Katt Williams following his explosive “Club Shay Shay” interview.
If you haven’t seen the nearly three-hour chat between Williams and Shannon Sharpe, he accused Smiley of lying about how the role of Money Mike came about in “Friday After Next.” According to Smiley, he was initially offered the role in the 2002 comedy, but it was ultimately given to Williams in an abrupt production change. This didn’t sit well with Wiliams, who accused Smiley of flat-out lying when he revealed this to Sharpe in a separate 2023 interview. During Thursday’s edition of Smiley’s morning radio show, he brought on his former manager and friend Gary Abdo, who backed his story that Smiley was indeed offered the Money Mike role first.

“I did audition for what I auditioned for, and I’m glad that the producers made that decision,” Smiley stated.
He then addressed Williams, expressing that Smiley is not funny unless he is wearing a dress. The “We Miss Robert” skit creator named several other comedians, such as Tyler Perry, Martin Lawrence, and Jamie Foxx, who also did skits as women during their performances.
“It’s a lot of comics and a lot of comedy greats that did characters for the sake of funny, for entertainment, for the sake of the laugh,” he shared before adding, “Nobody wants to put on a damn dress or are comfortable in it. That has nothing to do with my manhood being lessened for trying to play a role and trying to put food on the table for my family,” Smiley explained.

Fellow comedian Michael Blackson also responded to Williams after his interview, claiming he was only trying to regain relevancy with his many shocking claims while speaking with Sharpe. Whatever his motivation, Williams was ready for whatever backlash came with him shaking the table.
