Mega-superstar, Rihanna, has donated $5-million through her Clara Lionel Foundation to support the global efforts in fighting the coronavirus.
TMZ reports that the cash will be used to support food banks in at-risk communities across the U.S. and to assist in coronavirus testing and medical care in countries like Haiti and Malawi.
The donations would also help medical doctors and nurses that are at the frontline in this battle with coronavirus with protective equipment, distribution of respiratory supplies, and the development of vaccines and other methods to stop the virus.
Justine Lucas, the CLF’s Executive Director, tells TMZ, “Never has it been more important or urgent to protect and prepare marginalized and underserved communities, those who will be hit hardest by this pandemic.”
Rihanna founded the Clara Lionel Foundation in 2012 in honor of her grandparents.
The foundation has worked to support and fund education and emergency response programs around the world.
