That Rihanna reign just won’t let up!
In 2016, Rihanna dropped her eighth studio album, which peaked at number one on the US Billboard 200. She was featured on several singles, honored with the MTV Video Vanguard Award, and in 2017 claimed her 30th Top 10 hit. In addition to the music, Rihanna has launched a global scholarship program through her Clara Lionel Foundation to improve and promote health, education, arts and culture.
With all that the Bajan songstress accomplished in the last year, it appears 2017 will be just as big for the superstar.
In the midst of filming for the all-female installment of the “Ocean’s Eleven” franchise, Rihanna has traveled to Malawi to promote similar values of her foundation, which she founded to honor her grandparents. As the ambassador for Global Citizen and the Global Partnership for Education, Rihanna has worked to provide children across the globe with access to education.
As a result of the singer’s charitable efforts, Rihanna has been named Harvard University’s Humanitarian of the Year for 2017. She is set to accept the Peter J. Gomes Humanitarian Award next week at the school.
“Rihanna has charitably built a state-of-the-art center for oncology and nuclear medicine to diagnose and treat breast cancer at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Bridgetown, Barbados,” S. Allen Counter of the Harvard Foundation said.
Congrats to Rihanna!
