A Ring doorbell camera captured the attempted abduction of a young girl taking the trash out to the front of her house in Hamilton, Ohio.
The video shows the 6-year-old girl standing next to a garbage can at the curb when a man, who was later identified as 33-year-old Deric McPherson, walks toward her and appears to touch her before turning back around and dragging her down the sidewalk by her arm.
The young girl screamed and was able to run away, CNN reported.
Mandie Miller, the girl’s mother, told the outlet that her daughter was taking out the garbage on Tuesday, which she had done many times before.
“She came in with a blood-curdling scream, she ran into the living room she said, ‘mommy someone tried to take me, he touched my private parts,'” Miller said. “I went outside and saw him walking down the sidewalk.”
Miller and her husband tried to chase McPherson down the street on foot, but then her husband got in his car and followed him until Hamilton Police apprehended him.
Miller is now seeking counseling for her daughter, and the family is looking to move at the daughter’s request.
McPherson is detained at Butler County Jail on an abduction charge.
