Robert De Niro shook the internet days ago when he revealed that he recently welcomed his seventh child at age 79, and now the actor is letting it be known this baby was planned.Â
In a recent chat with ET Canada, the “Heist” star told host Brittnee Blair that he’d just welcomed a child, bringing his total to seven. A rep for the award-winning performer confirmed the news, and social media immediately went wild trying to determine who the child’s mother was. It was CBS host Gayle King who got down to the bottom of it, calling De Niro directly for an exclusive. De Niro confirmed to her that he’d welcomed a baby girl on April 6th with his partner Tiffany Chen. The pair were introduced in 2015 on the set of his film, “The Intern.” However, the two were not linked romantically until August 2021, when they were spotted vacationing together in France.
During Thursday’s CBS Mornings, King shared the first photo of the baby girl named Gia Virginia Chen-De Niro. She also revealed that De Niro and Chen had planned to have a child together.Â
“This baby is planned. They both wanted this baby. They’re over the moon. She was brought here by love. He’s very psyched and very excited about it,” she stated.
Chen is well-accomplished herself, working for years as a renowned martial arts professional. As the daughter of famed kung-fu star Grandmaster William C.C. Chen, she took up martial arts at a young age. She has won dozens of world titles and was inducted into the Martial Arts Magazine’s Hall of Fame as Competitor of the Year in February 2011, according to PEOPLE.Â
Chen is said to be around 38 years old, which means several of De Niro’s children from previous relationships are other than her. His eldest child is 51-year-old Drena, followed by 46-year-old Raphael. De Niro also has 27-year-old twins Aaron and Julian, 25-year-old Elliot, and 11-year-old Helen.
