It’s official, Robert Griffin IIIÂ is no longer part of the Washington Redskins franchise.Â
RGIII cleared out his locker on Monday, leaving just a note for his team mates. The note, an excerpt from Mother Teresa’s “Do It Anyway,” read, “People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway. If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway. What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway. Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway. In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.”
Griffin’s teammates have already taken to social media to sing his praises. “One of many reasons RGIII’s career is far from over. He handled his situation with professionalism and class #Respect,” LB Keenan Robinson tweeted.
“The difference with Robert was he had every eye, every camera on him when he’s going through that process, and that’s tough,” Defensive end Kedrick Golston said. “You get in a situation where you can do no right, no matter what you do. That’s tough. This league will do that to everybody. It will humble you.”
Who knows what the future holds for the 25 year old quarterback. Rest assured though, this won’t be the last we see of him.
