In the newest issue of Batman: Urban Legends, the DC character Robin came out as bisexual.
Tim Drake is the character who fights crime as Batman’s sidekick, Robin. In the issue that dropped on Tuesday, Drake accepts a date from a man named Bernard Dowd.
The moment comes after Drake and Dowd fight side by side in a street fight. After reducing Dowd, Drake goes to visit him at his apartment several days later.
The comic sets the scene by showing Drake psyching himself up to greet Dowd at his door.
“I’m really glad you got home okay. I was relieved. And I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about that night. And I — I don’t know what it meant to me. Not yet. But I’d like to figure it out,” he says.
To which Dowd replies, “I was hoping you would. Tim Drake…do you want to go on a date with me?”
Robin accepts the date, and the issue ends on the cliffhanger. But, fans will have to wait for the next issue to find out what happens with the two. The next issue is set to hit newsstands in December.
Fans have long speculated about the superhero’s sexuality, even though he’s previously dated women.
Tim Drake finally coming out is so inspiring, DC never wanted a queer Robin but after years and years of campaigning from writers and fans it finally happened
A big thank you to Meghan Fitzmartin, Belén Ortega and Alejandro Sánchez for making this moment so beautiful ❤️ pic.twitter.com/xb5YugEYd9
