Tina Turner, the Queen of Rock’n Roll, has died. She was 83.
A rep for the iconic singer confirmed she died Wednesday at her home in Switzerland after a long illness.
“With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model,” the rep said in a statement
Renowned for her captivating stage presence and a series of chart-topping hits such as “The Best,” “Proud Mary,” “Private Dancer,” and “What’s Love Got to Do With It,” Turner solidified her status as one of the most adored female rock vocalists.
She rose to fame in the 1960s as part of the dynamic Ike & Tina Turner Revue. After leaving her husband, Ike Turner, following years of abuse, the singer became a symbol of strength and resilience and orchestrated one of the most impressive comebacks in pop music.
Throughout her career, Turner sold over 180 million albums, won 12 Grammy Awards, and performed sold-out stadium tours across the globe.
