It looks like Rod Wave found himself in some hot water.
Arrest records show that St. Petersburg police took the rapper into custody just after midnight on Monday. He was arrested on a warrant for domestic battery by strangulation that originated out of Osceola County. The 22-year-old is currently being held in Pinellas County Jail.
According to his arrest affidavit, Rod, whose given name is Rodarius Marcell Green, was arrested during a traffic stop Sunday night. He was riding in the passenger seat of a 2021 Grey Dodge Durango which he owned.
Late Sunday night, the “Rags2Riches” rapper posted a video selfie with police lights reflecting off of his facing, saying, “This is lame, this is why I don’t even come here,” before the video cuts off.
No further details surrounding the arrest were made available.
The rapper recently made headlines after giving away $25,000 to St. Petersburg residents to get free gasoline.
