This week, rapper Rod Wave was arrested on charges related to firearm possession. He was taken to Manatee County Jail on Wednesday, facing two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Following his arrest, his legal representatives have contested the charges.
The details leading to Rod Wave’s arrest remain vague. However, his attorneys, Bradford Cohen and Mark Rankin, have voiced strong opposition to the charges, telling TMZ, “The officers that made the arrest are incorrect. He is not a convicted felon and has never been a convicted felon. We would have hoped additional research would have been done prior to them filing these charges.” They emphasized their intention to hold accountable those who made the alleged error.
Rod Wave has reportedly been released on his own recognizance, although jail records might still reflect him as in custody.
This incident isn’t Rod Wave’s first encounter with legal issues; he was previously involved in a domestic violence case in Florida, which was eventually dismissed without battery charges being pursued by prosecutors.
