Still, women have still used the opportunity to bring awareness to the commonness of sexual assault against women, reports state.

On Thursday night (October 13), Rose McGowan took to twitter to reveal her truth and experience with sexual assault. Particularly, sexual assault in Hollywood. In a series of tweets, using the hashtag “#whywomendontreport,” McGowan reveals a powerful Hollywood executive raped her.

“because it’s been an open secret in Hollywood/Media & they shamed me while adulating my rapist,” she added, using the same hashtag.

“Because my ex sold our movie to my rapist for distribution,” she says. “It is time for some goddamned honesty in this world.”

McGowan’s tweets raised industry insider’s eyebrows. All wondered who the man behind the assault could be. The tweets received hundred of retweets and favorites, with replies filled all kinds of emotion.

“You’re extremely brave. Not many people speak about being victims of rape and you’ll inspire more people to speak up,” another wrote.

Fans continued to show McGowan support.

“SPEAK. For every negative comment you hear you changed a woman’s life you may never meet. Thank you for honoring the truth,” another fan responded.

“Shame on those Hollywood pigs. You are incredibly brave! Your strength is honorable, thanks for standing up!,” another shared.

Apparently, reporters reached out to the actress for a comment, however, she has yet to respond.
