Rudy Giuliani is known for his bizarre behavior more than anything else at this point, so no one should be surprised that the former New York City Mayor turned up outside the suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer’s home on Saturday.
The New York Post reports that Giuliani spoke with police officers outside Rex Heuermann’s home and asked them how close he could get to the house. He never exited the vehicle and eventually drove away from the Massapequa Park residence.
A spokesperson for the former Donald Trump attorney said that he was there gathering information. Giuliani is covering the case as part of his new livestream show “America’s Mayor Live.”
“Mayor Rudy Giuliani—one of the most effective federal prosecutors in American history — was on scene to cover this heinous crime as part of his hit new livestream show, ‘America’s Mayor Live,'” Ted Goodman said in a statement to The Post. “The mayor commends all involved in the case but knows there is still work to be done in order to deliver justice.”
Police were at Heuermann’s house searching for evidence and looking to see if he kept trophies, a source told the outlet.
Suffolk County prosecutors identified Heuermann as the individual responsible for killing at least three prostitutes whose bodies were found near Gilgo Beach in 2010. Police believe he is responsible for a fourth, but so far, he has only been charged with three murders.
In total, 11 sets of human remains were found were found along the highway between 2010 and 2011.
