“Straight Outta Compton” smashed the box office in its opening week and word on the street is that there’s already a sequel in the works, this time focusing on none other than Death Row Records.
In “Straight Outta Compton” we get a glimpse at the inner workings of Death Row when Dr. Dre leaves Ruthless Records to form to collab with Suge Knight. We also meet Tupac and Snoop Dogg, the label’s rising stars. In the alleged SOC sequel, Complex Magazinereports that none of the actors from SOC will reprise their roles. That means the Suge, Tupac and Snoop that were so perfectly cast in the 2015 flick, won’t be in the reboot. Rumor has it that Dr. Dre will enlist his son, Curtis Young to play him this time, instead of Corey Hawkins. Whether he will put his son through the same rigorous training Ice Cube did with O’Shea Jr, we’ll have to see.
Ice Cube won’t be producing this sequel either, but according to The Dogg Pound’s Daz Dillinger, he gives his blessing.
