Russell Simmons and Usher Link Up in Bali

Russell Simmons is happy to have a friend like Usher during this tumultuous point in his life. 

On Sunday, the Def Jam founder shared that the singer recently paid him a visit in Bali. Simmons shared several images of Usher’s trip, which appears to be a holistic journey, as both men are avid supporters of yoga as it relates to spirituality. Simmons has resided in Bali since at least 2018 and reportedly only visits Los Angeles occasionally. According to Simmons, Usher paid him a visit at the perfect time. 

“When i was at the lowest point in my life i woke up and this man was sitting by my bed,” Simmons wrote in one of the IG posts, which is a slideshow of photos showing him and Usher in various locations during their travels.

Simmons further praised the Super Bowl Halftime performer in the caption, adding, “A friend walks in when others walk out … i will never forget the generosity of spirit i witnessed in this man God bless you baby bro @usher love you !!!!”

Simmons jetted off to Bali shortly after sexual assault allegations arose about him. Producer Drew Dixon was among the women who accused him of rape and other sexual misconduct during his Def Jam tenure. The 2020 HBO documentary “On The Record” examines the string of accusations. During a December 2023 interview with In Depth with Graham Bensinger, Simmons denied the many allegations and said he took nine lie detector tests to clear his name. However, many still point out that Simmons fled to Bali strategically to avoid accountability for his actions since Bali does not have an extradition agreement with the United States.
