Russell Wilson recently shared insights on parenting with Ciara.
Wilson appeared on the latest I AM ATHLETE podcast episode alongside former NFL player Brandon Marshall. Their extensive conversation delved into topics ranging from Wilson’s career to his family life.
During the discussion, Wilson shared insights into his relationship with his wife, Ciara. He recounted how they met when Ciara’s son, Future, was nine months old. Wilson described a moment when he felt a profound sense of purpose and felt called to embrace the responsibility of raising him.
“I remember leaving that night and God saying to me, ‘raising this child is going to be your responsibility,’” Wilson began. “‘God, you’re going to give me this opportunity? What a gift!”
Additionally, Marshall inquired about Wilson’s perspective on fatherhood versus stepfatherhood, asking whether he saw any distinction between the two roles.
“I think that when you’re raising children and you’re married and everything else and loving, you got to love every single child as if they’re yours,” he said. “That’s been the greatest gift of raising Future, Sienna, Win and now Amora.
Wilson added, “It’s like, man, God gave me that opportunity to raise them and to love them and to care for them and teach them and to love them every day. There’s no difference. To me, it’s the greatest gift and knowing that’s the responsibility to raise these four beautiful children all together.”
Wilson and Ciara crossed paths in 2015. She was already a mother to Future Zahir from her previous relationship with rapper Future. Following their marriage in 2016, the couple joyfully welcomed their daughter, Sienna Princess, in the subsequent year. Their family expanded further with the birth of their son, Win Harrison, in 2020, and their daughter, Amora Princess, arrived in December 2023.
