NFL player turned podcaster Ryan Clark faced off with controversial comedian Andrew Schulz, with their heated exchange culminating in a reconciliation after Schulz appeared on “The Pivot” podcast.

The tension first ignited when Clark criticized a joke from Schulz about the “inverse of the Black girlfriend effect,” where men with Black girlfriends supposedly cut their hair shorter due to stress and grow beards to cushion against slaps. Clark took issue with the comment, calling it offensive, which prompted Schulz to dismiss the criticism as an attempt to gain attention during his appearance on “Club Shay Shay.” Schulz’s dismissal stung, leading Clark to publicly defend his stance.

On “The Pivot,” Clark responded to Schulz’s accusations, clarifying that his comments were not about clout.

“No one defends Black women for clout. Most of the time, the people defending Black women are Black women,” Clark asserted, expressing his frustration with the notion that his actions were motivated by fame-seeking. He added, “Why is it corny for me to stand up in defense of Black women when people are sending me the clip and asking for my thoughts?”

Schulz responded, saying he didn’t believe Clark questioned his respect for Black women, but rather the implication that he lacked sensitivity was where he disagreed. “You must think I don’t already feel that way about Black women or all women,” he remarked, urging Clark not to misinterpret his intentions.

Clark then made it clear that his message wasn’t targeted at Schulz but at a broader issue.

“I don’t care about you. In that moment, Andrew Schulz was a nameless, grey face,” Clark explained. Despite their differences, the two seemed to reach an understanding in the end, which has been controversial to fans online who have questioned why Clark decided to platform the media personality.
