Sade is recording new music at Brad Pitt’s newly renovated music studio in France.
Billboard was the first to reveal the news after interviewing Brad Pitt and producer Damien Quintard for its cover story.
During the interview, the two shared that Sade had visited Miraval Studios since it reopened.
Quintard said of Sade, “you could feel the love that she and the band had for Miraval Studios.” He explained that the band had a “special connection [to] Miraval that can’t really be explained.”
“It’s a dream come true to see this place activate again,” Quintard said, while Pitt referred to Sade as “royalty.”
“We were ecstatic when she arrived, and for her to be the first artist to record again here… Some of the great moments of the studio are when you combine the past with the future,” Quintard said.
Sade’s new music likely represents the artist’s current project since the 2018 single “Flower of the Universe,” which was included on the soundtrack of Ava DuVernay’s movie A Wrinkle in Time.
In 2010, Sade released her last album, Soldier of Love.
Before Brad Pitt and his ex-wife Angelina Jolie bought the house in 2011, Sade was one of many artists that frequently recorded at Miraval Studios.
As of summer 2022, the studio has been open for recording artists after more than a 20-year hiatus.
