Weeks after Nicki Minaj’s younger sister shared details about their relationship while she was growing up, Safaree is defending both of them.
The “Love & Hip-Hop” star shared his thoughts after viewing her interview with the “We In Miami” podcast (@weinmiamipodcast). According to Ming Luanli, she was bullied while still in school due to who her sister was. Despite this, the upcoming artist admitted she only wished to make Minaj proud. Safaree watched the clip during his own time filming the show and praised the 18-year-old.
“She has a star quality to her. Something about her, no matter who she’s related to, she just has a raw, interesting thing about her…it’s something there,” he explained of Luanli.
Safaree was then asked his thoughts on Luanli revealing that she and Minaj were not the closest growing up. Though unfortunate, Safaree stood by Minaj and her hectic superstardom as the reason for her distance from some of her loved ones.
“When you’re just at that level of life and being successful, you make sacrifices. And one of the sacrifices is being away from family, people you care about. It just comes with the game. People getting all this money, all this fame, it’s going to come with something. It’s something that you lose, and that’s normalcy and just communicating,” Safaree explained in defense of his ex-girlfriend of over ten years.
Minaj, who is on tour, has not responded to her sister or Safaree.
