Samsung is taking smartphone privacy to the next level with a built-in feature that could eliminate the need for stick-on screen filters altogether.

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra introduces “Privacy Display,” a new technology designed to shield sensitive information without requiring users to purchase or apply external privacy screens. Unlike traditional adhesive filters that can dim brightness, collect dust, and interfere with fingerprint sensors, this feature is integrated directly into the display itself.

Privacy Display works by controlling the direction of light emitted from each pixel, limiting what can be seen from side angles. Owners can choose which apps and notifications are for their eyes only through the phone’s settings. That means private messages, banking alerts, or prescription notifications remain hidden from nearby onlookers — even while sharing other content on the same screen.

Starting at $1,299, the Galaxy S26 Ultra positions Privacy Display as a standout innovation in a market where upgrades are often incremental. Samsung has not announced plans to bring the feature to other models yet, but the move signals a shift toward built-in privacy solutions — and potentially the end of buying separate screen filters altogether.
