An interview with Esquire gave Samuel L. Jackson the platform to eloquently express how he feels about politics.
The notoriously unapologetic actor has always been honest about his views on Donald Trump, especially when in comparison to President Barack Obama’s priorities while he was in office.
“This motherfucker is like ruining the planet and all kinds of other crazy shit. And the people think that’s okay. It’s not fucking okay. And if you’re not saying anything, then you’re complicit..,” he said.
He went on to admit that being someone in the public eye doesn’t sway his choice to speak out publicly. In fact, Jackson couldn’t care less about the court of public opinion, even in regards to his own career.
“I know how many motherfuckers hate me. ‘I’m never going to see a Sam Jackson movie again.’ Fuck I care? If you never went to another movie I did in my life, I’m not going to lose any money. I already cashed that check. Fuck you. Burn up my videotapes. I don’t give a fuck.”
Jackson then identified with the general public and opened up about the issues everyday people face that still affect him.
“…If we don’t have health care, shit, and my relatives get sick, they’re going to call my rich ass. I want them to have health care. I want them to be able to take care of themselves. This is how I feel. And I count to one hundred some days before I hit ‘send,’ because I know how that shit is.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Jackson also revealed how he’s changed, talked working until he can’t, opened up about Quentin Tarantino controversy and shared his favorite Sam Jackson movies.
