Sanaa Lathan Will Make Directorial Debut With “On The Come Up”

Tony-nominated actress Sanaa Lathan will make her directorial debut with “On The Come Up.”

The film adapts Angie Thomas’ New York Times bestseller book “On The Come Up.”

The film centers around a 16-year-old girl named Bri that wants to become a rapper. Bri uses anger and frustration from her personal life experiences to create songs.

Lathan was nominated for a Tony award in 2003 for her Broadway acting in “A Raisin in the Sun.” The actress plays Lisa Arthur in the Emmy Award-winning HBO series Succession. She also appears in an action thriller series on Netflix — “Hit and Run.”
