Real Housewives of Atlanta star Sanya Richards-Ross is basking in the excitement of her baby news while reflecting on a miscarriage that nearly broke her.
Recently, fans learned that Richards-Ross was expecting after the mid-season trailer for season 15 showed the former track star rejoicing over a positive pregnancy test. However, many viewers didn’t know Ross would lose that child just two months into her term. In a chat with PEOPLE, Ross called the ordeal “traumatic,” revealing it left her hospitalized for a short while.
“I was in New York and had a really bad miscarriage. I had to go to the hospital. I had to have a blood transfusion. It was very, very, very scary,” she revealed to the publication during her cover shoot alongside her husband, Aaron Ross, and son, Aaron Jermaine.
The 38-year-old admitted that getting pregnant again so soon after losing her last baby was a bit surprising. Still, her family welcomed the news. Ross is now four months along, so fans cannot expect to see her new bundle of joy during this season.
After joining the franchise in season 14, Ross allowed the cameras into her family dynamic. When she was first introduced to viewers, the Olympic gold medalist was reluctant to have more children due to her husband’s business dealings away from their home. She also had a full house of relatives, making baby plans less appealing. In the end, it seems the athlete turned reality newbie had a change of heart and couldn’t be happier to meet their bundle of joy.
