Former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who served under the Trump administration, is running for Governor of Arkansas.
On Monday, the 38-year-old launched her 2022 campaign for the Governor with an eight-minute video announcement. She is expected to enter the race this week officially.
In her announcement, Sanders stated that she had “been tested under fire, successfully managing one crisis after another” during her White House tenure. She referred to her former job as “one of the most difficult, high-pressure jobs in all of government.”
Sanders is no stranger to the Governor’s office. Her father, Mike Huckabee, served as the 44th governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007. She will go against Arkansas Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin and Attorney General Leslie Rutledge in Arkansas’s Republican primary.
Following her resignation in June 2019, Donald Trump praised the woman and co-signed her potential run for Governor when the news began to surface that she was serious about running for office.
