Sasha Obama Set To Begin Classes At the University Of Michigan In The Fall

18-year-old Sasha Obama, the youngest daughter of forever president Barack Obama, was spotted on the University of Michigan campus earlier this week after reportedly attending freshman orientation earlier this year. In fact, according to reports, Sasha is set to begin classes at the University next Tuesday, September 3.

Speculation about Sasha’s college choice began after she posted an Instagram photo of herself and two friends on the Ann Arbor campus with the caption, “So proud to say I’m going to college with my sisters!!” According to The Detroit News, Sasha (born Natasha) put herself on a different path from her family members by attending a public Big Ten university instead of an Ivy League. Meanwhile, her sister, Malia Obama, is set to begin her third year at Harvard University, where their parents attended law school.

Earlier this week, Sasha was spotted among other students, accompanied by the secret service. When asked if Obama is enrolled at the university, UM spokesman Rick Fitzgerald said, “We cannot confirm the enrollment of any student,” he said. “Classes do not start until next week, and we are weeks away from official enrollment information.”

However, Zach Lassen, a third-year film student from Redford, said, “I was walking by pushing a vacuum, and she walked out right in front of me. I said, ‘Excuse me.’ It was a crowded hallway with her and some Secret Service dudes.” When asked what he thought about her being on campus, he said some people were a tad annoyed with the additional security, but overall he thought it was cool.

Allie McCrum, a UM sophomore, said she was excited that the former president’s daughter planned to attend the school, calling it an “opportunity for all of us.” Sophomore Jessica Brinser agreed. “I think it’s cool that even though her family went to Ivy League schools, she decided that UM was the caliber high enough to match that of an Ivy League school,” she said; wishing Obama well. “We hope she finds her fit here just like we all have,” she said. “We all love it here. We hope she does, too.”
