Houston rapper Sauce Walka is known to speak his mind and his latest comments on Travis Scott‘s connection to the city’s rap scene. During a recent appearance on ‘One On One with Mike D’ podcast, Sauce Walka shared his opinions on why Travis Scott hasn’t collaborated with any Houston legends.
“This is our moment to be polarized and idolized at the same level as Travis Scott and Megan [Thee Stallion],” he began. “And guess what? If that was done enough, that would attract Travis Scott and Megan to want to come and do this shit on the G. We the ones that got the songs with Travis Scott and Megan. Me and Maxo Kream the only person that got songs with Megan Thee Stallion. I got Lil Keke and Big Pokey on the song with Megan Thee Stallion. And you [Mike D]. I called you. I did that.”
However, when it comes to Travis Scott, Sauce Walka believes that there’s an underlying reason as to why there’s a lack of collaborations between the “Astroworld” artist and Houston OG’s.
“Travis Scott don’t got no songs with no OGs in Houston,” Sauce Walka added. “He don’t like none of the OGs in Houston because he don’t like the way they treated him when he was ‘Lil Travis.’”
He continued, “But he not gon’ vocalize it, he not gon’ say it. He not gon’ do what I’m doing. He gon’ let y’all perform, do a little this and a little of that to be nice. But you don’t think that don’t make sense why Travis Scott ain’t got songs with the great legends of Houston? But he used the sample! Like, ‘I’ma use the sample to pay the family because they deserving of it.’ He not on no sh*xsazzt that I be tripping on with other artists.”
Nonetheless, this isn’t the first time Sauce Walka has called out an artist for their relationship with the city of Houston. During his August appearance on ‘The Breakfast Club,’ Sauce Walka called out Drake for failing to collaborate with Houston artists despite frequently visiting the city.
“Still to this day, why does Drake not have a bunch of records with Houston artists?” Sauce Walka asked. “Because why? Not only would the city of Atlanta look at you weird for not doing that, but you knew that it was also beneficial for you.”
