Saweetie sat down for a recent interview and cleared up some misconceptions about the infamous Hermès Birkin bags and the comments she made about sending men who couldn’t afford to buy the luxury purse “Back to the Streets.”
In an interview with Power 106’s personality Bryanna, the icy and baby hair princess addressed the fall out from her controversial comments and her excitement for her debut album entitled “Pretty B*tch Music.”
Saweetie said her music is meant to inspire women to feel good about themselves. The Bay Area rapper said she gave the album that title because she was told that’s how her music makes women feel. “I make people feel confident. I make them feel sexy. I make them want to get to the bag.”
And speaking of bags, Saweetie explained that her now-infamous comments weren’t meant to be taken so literally. “One thing people have to realize about me is I’m an entertainer, and I come to entertain, and that was an entertaining comment,” she said, referring to her advice that women should send their men “Back to the streets” if he couldn’t afford to pay your rent and buy you Birkins. She confessed she was simply having a good time, promoting her new single, and “popping my sh*t for my girls.”
She explained the whole point of the song “Back to The Streets” is for women to realize their value and to know if they’re not being valued by the men they hold down- they should kick him to the curb.
And her advice to men who may not have a lot, spoil your girl as best you can- in your tax bracket. “I feel like a Birkin symbolizes a gift of value. So if you are giving your girl, who is holding you down, give her a gift-something you can get- of course in your tax bracket.”
Saweetie also clarified that being “Pretty” is more than just looks. “Pretty is your aura. Pretty is your energy because I’ve met a lot of bad b*tches, who in my opinion, they were ugly because their attitudes were so stank.”
The “Tap In” rapper also explained that her use of the word B*tch has another meaning as well. Paying homage to her favorite rapper Tupac. Saweetie created an acronym for the word, which actually stands for Boss Independent Tough Ceo Hyphy.
