Saweetie has a few words for people speaking negatively about her actions during a Chicago festival.
On Sunday, Saweetie graced the stage at the Vegandale Festival in Chicago’s Grant Park. While the set started on a good note, it was cut short abruptly after an alleged fight broke out. A video from the event quick went viral on social media that showed the moment Saweetie paused her show to address the crowd.
“I know y’all ain’t doing what I think y’all doing,” she said. “Is everybody safe?”
Later that day, Saweetie expressed concern for the attendees, tweeting, “Hope everyone got home safe tonight. That crowd looked crazy.”

But unfortunately, Saweetie’s comments didn’t set well with some, who felt like she wasn’t being genuine with her statements. In fact, one user wrote, “It was a festival! Straight [clown]. Don’t bring your a** back to Chicago; you’ve done enough… It was babies out there getting trampled on for nothing. Then, [you came] back [talking about], ‘I’ma tell y’all what my type is.’ We [don’t give a f*ck] at this point.”
Saweetie wasn’t hesitant to respond to the criticism and explained why she chose to continue her set once the situation was over.
“The crowd did look crazy, which is why I hope everyone got home safe. Also, I could’ve [gone] home after the fight broke out, but I stayed [and] waited after 2 [Chainz] performed,” Saweetie wrote. “I went back on stage to finish my set [because] I care… [You] clearly don’t like me, so why [did] you stay for the rest of my set when the festival was clearly over?”

Additionally, Saweetie followed up her remarks with another tweet to call out the people for overlooking the seriousness of the incident to throw criticism aimed at her.
“This was a serious matter but yall are too obsessed with creating this negative propaganda toward me,” she added.
Nevertheless, Saweetie is expected to take the stage at Angie’s Summer BBQ on July 13th, with other artists such as Normani, Honey Bxby, Maiya Tha Don, and Connie Diiamond.
