Russell Wilson is demanding $20M a year over the next 5 years and the Seahawks are not interested. The Seahawks figure even with the franchise tag in 2 years, after Wilson’s contract runs out, they’ll be paying him no more than $45-48M over the next 3 years. Word is that neither side is budging. The Seahawks are willing to wait it out, while Russ is reportedly growing frustrated.
Wilson has been sending out a series of subtweets over the past month and while it may be a reach to say it’s directed towards the ‘Hawks, it’ll also be a reach to say it isn’t a possibility. Tweets like “Don’t let negative voices talk you into mediocrity. You were created for greatness” and “Always control what you can control. Never let others nonsense & lack of gratefulness & respect bring you down” could go either way.
Can both sides come to an agreement this offseason? We’ll have to wait and see!
