Sean Kingston has broken his silence following the raid on his Florida mansion, during which his mother, Janice Turner, was taken into custody.
“People love negative energy,” Kingston wrote via his Instagram Stories. “I am good and so is my mother! My lawyers are handling everything as we speak.”
The Thursday morning raid was part of an ongoing investigation by the Broward Sheriff’s Office. BSO spokesperson Carey Codd confirmed that 61-year-old Turner is facing “numerous fraud and theft charges.” Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Paul Anderson, was not present during the raid. The official release did not clarify if Kingston himself is facing any charges.
Attorney Dennis Card, representing Ver Ver Entertainment, was on the scene during the raid and saw Turner in handcuffs. Card’s company is suing Kingston over an unpaid balance for a 232-inch home theater and audio system valued at over $100,000, installed in Kingston’s home. The lawsuit alleges that while Kingston made a downpayment, he failed to pay the remaining balance.
“He likes having bling, he likes showing off, he’s a showman,” Card said. “My client has a $150,000 television sound system that’s in there, there’s also about $1 million worth of watches, and an $80,000 custom bed. This is organized systematic fraud.”
Card elaborated, “He’s got basically a script. He says that he works with Justin Bieber and puts on a big show. This is a rental house; he doesn’t own it. He lures people using his celebrity to release things without paying, and then he simply never pays.”
The legal issues for Kingston might extend beyond this single case. Card mentioned that he spoke with a detective investigating Kingston after filing the lawsuit, indicating broader legal troubles.
