Sean Kingston is now behind bars in the Broward County, Florida Jail after his arrest in California, which followed a raid on his South Florida mansion that also led to his mother’s arrest.
Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Anderson, faces charges of grand theft and an organized scheme to defraud. He agreed to return to Florida without contesting extradition from California and was transported to Broward County on Sunday, according to BSO.
Kingston’s legal troubles began with a late May raid on his rented home in Southwest Ranches. During the raid, agents seized various items, including a Cadillac Escalade. Authorities allege that Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, stole jewelry, money, and furniture. One significant accusation is their failure to pay for a $150,000 entertainment system.
The charges against Kingston are extensive, including an organized scheme to defraud over $50,000, criminal use of personal identification information over $50,000, grand theft between $20,000 and $100,000, fraud for issuing insufficient funds checks over $150, grand theft over $100,000, and probation violation. His bond amounts total $100,000.
In February, a company filed a lawsuit against Kingston for not paying for merchandise, adding to his mounting legal issues.
During the raid, Turner’s arrest was also captured on video, showing her in handcuffs outside the home. She faces several counts of theft and fraud as well. Both Turner and Kingston are convicted felons.
Following the raid, Kingston addressed the situation on Instagram, saying, “People love negative energy! I am good and so is my mother! … My lawyers are handling everything as we speak.”
