Singer Sean Kingston‘s mother was taken into custody during a Thursday morning raid of a Florida mansion rented by the singer, officials said. The raid was part of an ongoing investigation.
BSO spokesperson Carey Codd confirmed in a media release that 61-year-old Janice Turner was arrested and is facing “numerous fraud and theft charges.” Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Paul Anderson, was not home at the time of the raid, and the release did not specify if he is also facing charges.

An attorney representing a company suing Kingston was present during the raid and witnessed Turner in handcuffs. Ver Ver Entertainment installed a 232-inch home theater and audio system in Kingston’s home, valued at over $100,000. The lawsuit alleges that Kingston made a downpayment but failed to pay the remaining balance.
“He likes having bling, he likes showing off, he’s a showman,” said attorney Dennis Card. “My client has a $150,000 television sound system that’s in there, there’s also about $1 million worth of watches, and an $80,000 custom bed. This is organized systematic fraud.”
Card elaborated on the scheme, stating, “He’s got basically a script. He says that he works with Justin Bieber and puts on a big show. This is a rental house; he doesn’t own it. He lures people using his celebrity to release things without paying, and then he simply never pays.”
Card mentioned that he spoke with a detective investigating Kingston after filing his lawsuit, indicating that the legal issues surrounding Kingston might extend beyond this single case.
